These first few days of school have been awesome! What an amazing group of students you are all raising. They are full of kindness and consideration, and I love to watch how they are already forming new friendships and re-vamping old friendships. The first few days of school are not always so interesting, but these students have handled it like pros, and I couldn't be happier.
We've managed to start the process of settling into our routine. Each morning when they come in, there is a morning message on the board letting them know the Special for that day, and the things they need to get out and ready for math. So far, they've been pretty good about getting everything they need for the morning. Math has been going by way too quickly, we've been so busy practicing our place value, but I guess that's a good thing.
After Math, the kids head to specials and lunch, which is a nice break for them but can make for a long afternoon. When they come back, we do our Language Arts block (we are working on comprehension strategies right now) and AR time. The rest of the afternoon consists of Science and Social Studies, with a little break in there for snack and a chapter or two of the read-aloud we are reading.
Most days, we've even been able to take a few minutes for a recess break. This nice weather won't be sticking around much longer, and I want to take advantage of it while we can!
The kids seem to really be enjoying what we've been doing so far, and I'm looking forward to next week. Lots more fun stuff in store!
